How to Find Your New Home

Before you visit your new city, Nexus Relocation will contact a Real Estate company to help you get an overview of the area and housing market.

You will want to supply the agent with a profile of you and your family including:

  • The makeup of your family (how many people, ages of children, any special needs)
  • Your interests (golf, tennis, swimming, churches)
  • Special family needs (limits to commute time, schools, public transportation)
  • Your new office phone number and location
  • Target dates for home finding trips and moving in
  • The market analysis of your current home showing the opinion of value
  • How much equity you have to invest
  • The price range for your new home
  • Your home style preferences
  • Your room requirements (family room, in-law quarters, den, garage space)

One thing to keep in mind when you look at homes to purchase is: “How easily can I sell this house when I move again?” You want to buy with resale in mind. To make a good investment, consider the following:

  • Are the area values stable?
  • If there is vacant land close by, how will it be developed?
  • How does the price of this home compare to the others around it?
  • Are there any easements or encroachments that may make it difficult to sell?
  • Are the rooms and floor plan appealing to most buyers?
  • Is the kitchen planned and equipped well?
  • Are there enough bedrooms and baths?
  • Does the home have good traffic flow from room to room?

Ask your buyer’s agent to help you determine if the home would appeal to many potential buyers should you decide to move again.
